At Steve’s Garden Services, we specialise in handling garden waste responsibly and professionally. With recent updates to Norfolk County Council’s business waste disposal charges, effective from 1 November 2024, we want to provide clarity about how these changes impact our services.
As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, Steve’s Garden Services holds a Carrier, Broker, Dealer – Lower Tier licence. This licence, which you can verify on the Environmental Agency’s Public Register, allows us to legally transport and manage garden waste on behalf of our customers.
What Is a Carrier, Broker, Dealer – Lower Tier Licence?
This licence is a legal requirement for businesses transporting waste that they produce as part of their services. It ensures:
- Compliance with Environmental Regulations: We follow strict rules for disposing of waste at authorised facilities.
- Proper Waste Tracking: A waste transfer note is provided for every load we dispose of, ensuring transparency.
- Focus on Recycling: Whenever possible, garden waste is recycled or composted to minimise environmental impact.
This means you can trust us to handle your garden waste safely and in full compliance with UK regulations.
New Charging Structure
The Norfolk County Council charges for waste disposal are based on vehicle size and waste type. As we primarily deal with garden waste, our charges fall under the medium van category and include an additional £25.00 to cover the extra time and effort required for booking and transporting waste to the disposal facility. The updated pricing for garden waste is:
- Garden waste disposal:
- £146 for loads over 50% full (plus £25.00 = £171.00).
- £73 for half loads (plus £25.00 = £98.00).
This additional charge reflects the time and resources needed to comply with the updated process. You can find more details on Norfolk County Council’s business and trade waste pricing page.
Why This Matters
The Council’s updated system ensures fair pricing for businesses based on the type and volume of waste being disposed of. As a result, our costs have increased. To adapt, we have adjusted our pricing to reflect these changes. However, we continue to prioritise efficient, eco-friendly disposal methods to support sustainability.

Alternative Disposal Options
If you generate large amounts of waste, you may wish to explore alternative disposal options. For example, some district councils provide trade waste collection services, which could be a more cost-effective solution for your needs. You can explore these options on the Council’s alternative disposal page.
We understand these changes may bring additional costs, but they are essential to maintaining compliance and supporting environmentally responsible waste management. Should you have any questions or require further clarification, feel free to contact us.
